The Armor of God

This Sunday, Brian Glodek. our Associate Pastoral Candidate, preaches from Ephesians 6:10-17 where Paul outlines the essential truths about the believer's warfare. Brian often references his own experience wearing protective armor while deployed in Afghanistan to clarify the importance of being properly geared up for war. Our Christian life is a battle. It is serious spiritual warfare. In Ephesians 6:10-17 we see encouragement, and the command, to be strong, to be ready, to gird ourselves with the "very armor of God" as we face Satan and the spiritual battles in which he will try to engage us.

16 Verses: "Bruised and Crushed"

This is week four in Pastor Chris Garrison's series "The Whole Story of the Bible in 16  Verses." The subjects of Genesis 3:15 are the offspring of the serpent and the offspring of Eve. Pastor Chris describes who these offspring might be and what their agendas might look like in our world today. We discover that because of sin, it seems like Satan will win, but in fact, victory is the Lord's!

16 Verses "Fallen, Broken, Judged"

Pastor Chris Garrison continues the sermons series "The Whole Story of the Bible in 16 Verses." So far in the story, "God created a kingdom, and He is the King, but He made human beings to represent Him in that kingdom. Adam and Eve rejected this call." This week, in Genesis 3:6-7 we learn that when we usurp God's position to determine what is good for us, we sin and face the consequences.

16 Verses "The Prepositional Life" Genesis 1:27-28

A preposition sets up a relationship, or position, between two nouns. In this second sermon in the series "The Whole Story of the Bible in 16 Verses," Pastor Chris Garrison explains how three key prepositions show our position in relation to God: God created human beings in His image, for His purposes, and under His authority.

16 Verses "Good Kingdom:Good King"

The book,THE WHOLE STORY OF THE BIBLE IN 16 VERSES, is the launching point for Pastor Chris’s new sermon series. The book is a tool to help us understand the Bible, and as we read the Bible to see how we fit into the story of God. The sermon series will break the the Bible down each week to help us understand the Story of the Gospel of Jesus Christ  and to help us grow in our ability to share the gospel with confidence. 

Today's sermon comes from Genesis 1:31-2:3. We see that the Bible wants us to know that God created a Kingdom and He is the King!

 

"Freedom" Galatians 5:1

Today, the day before celebrating our county's independence, Pastor Chris Garrison preaches on "Freedom" and shows us what the yoke of sin is and what the yoke of the law is. In Galatians 5:1 the apostle Paul writes that it is in Christ that we are free, no longer enslaved by sin or the law or by the spiritual death they can bring. Jesus set us free FOR freedom...stand firm in it! 

1 Timothy 6:20-21 "Engarde!"

This sermon concludes Pastor Chris Garrison's series from 1 Timothy. The early church in Ephesus was full of false teachers. In 1 Timothy 6:20-21 Paul writes to Timothy telling him that God commands him to call out those people of the church of Ephesus who follow the false teachings. The truth and good news of the Gospel is that God has invested in you significantly! Pastor Chris points us to ways that we can guard that "deposit."  He instructs us to guard the gospel, know it well, and let it permeate our whole life. 

I Timothy 6:6-19 "A Tempting Trap"

This Sunday Pastor Chris Garrison's sermon is from 1 Timothy 6:6-19. Paul warns the people of the church to guard themselves against greed by intentionally seeking things that really matter. Don't put your hope in money, put it into God, for godliness with contentment IS great gain!

1 Timothy 5:1-16 Gospel Centered Relationships

Pastor Chris Garrison preaches from 1 Timothy where Paul shows the church that Gospel center relationships reflect the heart of God. As the family of God, we reflect God's heart when we give each other positive, family identities and cultivate Christ-like care and compassion.

Psalm 2 "Does God Play Favorites?"

Today Pastor Chris Garrison's message is from Psalm 2. With the 2016 Ilwaco HIgh School graduates in the audience, Pastor Chris shows that the way to be successful in life is to favored by God.
